Cooking Vinyl Group announces US expansion plans

Respected US Music Industry Executive Howie Gabriel Appointed President

London, March 10th 2016 – London based independent music company Cooking Vinyl Group, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2016, has announced plans to expand its operations in the US market with the opening of a full service label division.

Based in New York City, Cooking Vinyl America will be overseen by newly appointed President Howie Gabriel a respected music industry executive, who joins the company from Warner Bros. Records where he previously held the position of Executive Vice President of Marketing. Prior to joining Warner Bros., Gabriel played a key role at RED Distribution as Senior Vice President of Label Management.

Reporting directly to Cooking Vinyl Group Founder and CEO Martin Goldschmidt, Gabriel will sign and develop domestic and international artists as well as releasing artists from Cooking Vinyl’s existing UK roster.

Initial releases include Billy Bragg, Dolores O’Riordan and Teddy Thompson, while the Cooking Vinyl roster includes global acts such as Marilyn Manson and The Prodigy.

Cooking Vinyl America recently signed a distribution deal with RED, a division of Sony Music, and will use the Cooking Vinyl Group’s extensive international network for territories outside of the US, opeing up new markets and offering a worldwide solution for artists.

Howie Gabriel said, “I have known Martin for many years both personally and professionally and have always admired the way he has developed Cooking Vinyl from humble beginnings into a hugely successful company. With a strong international infrastructure already in place, the time is right to build on that success by having a permanent base and a full service label operation in the US that can act as a home for the company’s existing artists, while working with the best American talent. I am honored to have been given the role of overseeing Cooking Vinyl America and am excited to be part of helping the company become a truly global independent label who can sign, develop and market artists on a worldwide basis.”

Martin Goldschmidt said, “The key challenge whenever our company expands into new territories, particularly a territory as important as the US, is finding the right person to oversee things. In Howie we have someone who has tremendous energy aligned with a proven track record of success in marketing and distribution, an understanding of both the US and the international markets and above all a passion for music.”

“I am delighted that Cooking Vinyl is reopening its doors in the US,” says Bob Morelli, President of RED. “I have known Martin, Howie and the Cooking Vinyl team for many years. RED and ‘stache media are excited to work with their cutting edge roster and to be their sales, distribution and marketing partners.”
