Following the release of his seventh studio album Lexicon on June 21st, British pop icon Will Young looks set to achieve his fifth number 1 record. It is his first full-length album release since the success of 85% Proof, which was released four years ago and also topped the charts at number one. Lexicon is Will’s first release on an independent label and follows a period of musical dormancy.
The twelve track record has received a deluge of positive responses set to continue throughout coming weeks. While the acclaimed Lexicon stays true to Will’s pop roots, this long-awaited release also exudes a sense of new beginnings and has provided him with fresh liberation and freedom.
The Pop Idol star has been at the heart of UK music for almost two decades after rising to prominence in 2002, and the fact that his latest release is still garnering hugely positive reception after all this time is an honourable recognition of him as an artist.
To celebrate the release of the album, Will is also set to embark on a huge 21 date UK tour. ‘An Evening With Will Young’ kicks off in October and spreads across a wide variety of locations around the country, including London’s iconic Eventim Apollo.
