Supporting COVID-19 Relief Funds
As we enter week five of lockdown, many of our artists have been releasing charity singles to support COVID-19 relief funds.
Today, The Fratellis have released a charity collaboration with the legendary US soul singer PP Arnold, with proceeds going to Spotify's Covid-19 Music Relief Fund. This emotive track was recorded between their homes in the UK & Spain, yet neither artists have met! Lead singer Jon Fratelli says 'It's an example of our endless ability to connect with one another even when it seems like there are obstacles in the way'. Listen here .
Meanwhile, Richard Walters has recorded a track ‘Hello!’ with his daughter Addy, raising money for the wonderful charity Home-Start, who are doing essential work to support vulnerable families during this crisis. Watch the video here, and donate in the description. Richard comments, ‘I've been trying to find ways to help my daughter cope with this situation. One thing that's really helped has been writing music with her, talking about her worries and turning them into songs.’ So far, Addy and her friends have raised over £1,400 - amazing!
Swim deep have contributed to ‘Songs For The National Health Service’, which is a one-off collection of exclusive, unreleased tracks by different bands and artists, with all profits funding specialised PPE for hospitals that haven’t been provided with it. Released via Flying Vinyl, who have partnered with Dr. Natalie Watson at University Hospital Lewisham as she launches the Hoods for Heroes campaign.
When Bandcamp wavered their fees last Friday, The Rifles released the apt track ‘Stuck Inside’, with 100% of the proceeds from the sales are going to the National Health Service. The track £0.99 but you can choose to pay what you want in order to donate more. So far the track has raised £970 on Bandcamp alone so far.
Keep checking back for updates on how much these charity tracks are supporting the relief efforts.
